Featured Speaker Eleanor Longden 

Longden is a research associate at the University of Liverpool who draws on her own experiences of recovery from psychosis to promote more creative, person- centered approaches to complex mental health problems. Her TED talk on voice- hearing has been translated into 34 languages and was named by the UK’s Guardian newspaper as one of the ‘20 Online Talks That Could Change Your Life’.

Ron Culberson 

Ron spent the first part of his career working in a large hospice organization as a clinical social worker, manager, and senior leader. As an author, speaker, and humorist, he has delivered more than 1,000 presentations to associations, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and corporations. He is the 2012-2013 president of the National Speakers Association and a recognized expert on the benefits of humor and laughter.

Cancellation Policy: No refunds will be given after May 26, 2015; however, substitutions will be permitted.

Fees for full conference attendees and staff/trustee spouses include the Thursday Center Party, two continental breakfasts, all daily breaks and the Thursday luncheon.

Complimentary covered self-parking and valet parking is approximately $30.00/day.


Ground transportation to/from George H. Bush Intercontinental Airport (approximately $25/person one-way) or William P. Hobby Airport ($25/person one-way) is avaible through SuperShuttle. For reservations, contact SuperShuttle at 800/258-3826 or The shuttle pick-up location is curbside near the lower level baggage claim area at each airport. Rental car agencies are located at both airports. 

Special Events

Frank M. Adams Award - Presentation of the Frank M. Adams Award will honor outstanding service in the categories of Individual, Community and Media. Established in 1990, the Adams Award was created in honor of the late Frank M. Adams, a founding member of the Texas Council.

Badges are required for entry to all meeting rooms, meal functions and exhibit hall. 


The Texas Council Conference offers content for professionals (Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nurses, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Executive leadership) working in the Community Center system of care, stakeholders, advocates, persons in services and the general public.

Concurrent Session Admittance

All sessions are open to conference attendees on a first-come/first-serve basis. As soon as all chairs are occupied, the room montiro will close the session. Fire codes prohibit the attendees from standing in the aisles or against the walls. We appreciate your cooperation. 

Continuting Education Units


No partial CEU credits will be given at the sessions. Successful completion of the session is required to receive continuing education credit. 

Evaluation Forms

Be sure to complete the evaluation forms for each session and return them to the room monitor to ensure your CEU credits. Overall conference evaluation forms will also be provided. Please complete the overall conference evaluation form and return them to the registration desk before leaving the conference. Your input will help us plan for the 2016 Conference.
