Home and Community-Based Services (HCS) Case Management Transfer to Service Coordination
To increase services and quality oversight of those services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the Texas Legislature allocated $207 million in General Revenue for home and community-based programs.
According to Senate Bill 1 Section 48, funding for the increased community services depends, in part, on transitioning from HCS case management to sevice coordination to better serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Texas Council has been actively engaged with the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS), Community Centers and advocate groups to ensure the measure is acheived by
- collaborative relationships with providers,
- understanding and appreciation by consumers and families,
- and consistency among local authorities accross the state.
